Types of motorcycle insurance

Posted on September 30th, 2010 No Comments

Just like cars, if you are driving a motorcycle you are required by law to have some form of motorcycle insurance in all states.  More than 250,000 Americans use motorcycles as their primary form of transportation.  Whether you use your motorcycle on a daily basis or just for the occasional joy ride, it is important to be protected with quality motorcycle insurance.

In addition to standard liability motorcycle insurance there are additional coverage options you can purchase.  For example, collision insurance can cover the cost of any repairs to damage done to your motorcycle if you are involved in an accident.

Also, you can purchase uninsured/under insured  motorist coverage.  If you are in an accident that another person caused, that person is supposed to have insurance to cover the cost of any damage done to your vehicle.  However, there are many uninsured and under insured drivers on the road.  Uninsured/ under insured motorist coverage will protect you if you are in an accident with a driver who does not have car insurance to cover the cost of repairs or damage to your vehicle.

Lastly, purchasing comprehensive insurance coverage will protect you if your motorcycle is damaged by something other than an accident.  For example, if your motorcycle is damaged by vandalism or hail, comprehensive insurance can help cover the cost of the repairs.

Reasons to purchase car insurance

Posted on September 23rd, 2010 No Comments

First and foremost, in all states driving without car insurance is illegal.  Drivers can chose to purchase a state’s minimum coverage car insurance or, in order to better protect  from yourself from accidents or damage to your vehicle, drivers can purchase other car insurance with wider coverage.

Car insurance helps cover the cost of external or internal damage to your vehicle if you are in an accident or somebody damages your car.  In addition, if your car is beyond repair or if repairing the damage would cost more than the value of the vehicle, car insurance will help replace your vehicle.

Car insurance will help if you are in an accident and cause damage to another person’s vehicle or if you need a rental car after an accident.

Also, if you are injured in an accident car insurance can cover your medical expenses.
